At Home

After a very long flight, made even longer by a certain eight month old baby who only slept two hours total, we made it home. Although it was nice to be back, it was also sad to not be in Seoul anymore. We loved it there and have such an emotional attachment to the place and the people. We will definitely visit South Korea again!

Saturday was a very long day. Neither of us had much sleep the night before we left, and since we left Seoul at 12:00 pm and got home at 12:00 pm, we had to live the day again, in a sense. It didn't feel right to go to bed in the middle of the day, so it was a relief when night came and we could finally sleep! Joel continued to be a great baby all day, even with how tired he was. He seemed to love his cowmooflage car seat and napped almost the whole drive home. He then napped again from about 4:30-7:00, when we woke him up so he could go back to bed later at his regular bed time. He had his first bath at home, during which he just sat there looking kind of shell-shocked. His foster mother said he loved baths--I think he was just still so sleepy. He played for awhile, ate, and then we put him to sleep. We were undecided before we left where Joel would sleep. We knew that he slept on the floor with his foster mother and that he might have a hard time with a crib. We considered co-sleeping, but didn't really want to go there for various reasons. We also considered one of us sleeping on the floor with him in his room, then transitioning to his crib while we stayed on the floor. Well, last night we decided to put Joel down on our floor on a blanket next to our bed. He slept there for about four hours, then woke up. My angel of a husband got up with him and fed and changed him, then got him to sleep again, this time in his crib. He slept there until 8:00, at which time my angel of a husband again got up with him.

Today was a great day with him, too! God has seen fit to bless me with two angels in the house, apparently. :) He is such a content, happy baby. He fussed/cried for maybe thirty seconds to a minute a couple of times today. Other than that, he was happy to play with us and his toys. He took two naps, both in his crib, and fell asleep tonight after a bottle around 10:00. I put him down in his crib, and he woke up for a second, turned over, and snuggled in. He must really like his crib! (Must be that organic mattress.)

He truly is an angel and we are both so happy. We never thought he would adjust so well and be such a good little boy. We think he's the most perfect baby in the world (not to mention the most adorable). Hopefully he will continue to be content and happy and attached to us.
