It's Official!

I'm a stay-at-home mom! After a lot of thinking, praying, talking, and figuring out health insurance, we decided that it would be best for me not to return to work. Even though I was able to take a twelve week leave, I just couldn't imagine leaving Joel with a sitter for nine hours a day once my leave was done. I'll also have the opportunity to baby-sit our Goddaughter two days a week, which was an answer to prayer. I'll be able to make a little money while being home with Joel.

There are definitely things and people (especially you, N) that I'll miss about work. In fact, there are days when returning to work sounds like a great idea. (You know, those days when Joel just won't nap or he's fussy or I'm crabby.) However, I think it would break my heart to leave him. Staying home with our child is very important to us, especially given what Joel has been through in his short life. It will be difficult financially, but we are willing to make some sacrifices to make it work (well, short of ending my trips to Old Navy).

So, trips to the zoo, lunches with friends, storytime at the library, staying in pajamas all day...here we come! And, really, who wouldn't enjoy staying home with this adorable happy boy?

Congratulations! I, too, can't imagine not being with my child all day long. The financial sacrifice is totally worth it if your family can handle it. Enjoy every moment!

CONGRATS! It is the best, most rewarding job you will ever have (not that I consider being home with my kiddos a job, but ykwim). And staying in pj's all day is a great perk :)
